  8.   Some time  ago  I read an article in
  9. one  of  the  major magazines about an
  10. anonymous   guy  who  was  an  unknown
  11. swapper  living the standard life of a
  12. computer  dude  for years.  After some
  13. time  he got an offer to join a famous
  14. demogroup  and it gave radical changes
  15. to his scene career!
  16.  
  17.    Well,   to   tell   the   truth  it
  18. perfectly  reminds  me  my  case.  But
  19. first  of  all  now I will write about
  20. myself  to  share  my experiences with
  21. you.  With this stuff I'd like to help
  22. those  ones  who just joined the scene
  23. and  want  to  point out my opinion to
  24. the experienced ones too!

  26.    About   years ago I was an average
  27. Amiga  swapper  (still one of the best
  28. in  my country) of the Hungarian group
  29. called  Cerberos Designs.  I had about
  30. 40 contacts which I got with very hard
  31. work,   hunting   for   hot  Hungarian
  32. releases   to   send,   even  doing  a
  33. papermag  just  to  keep  my  contacts
  34. impressed, writing long letters and so
  35. on.   Ofcourse  it was not only a job,
  36. arghh  it  wasn't  at all, it was pure
  37. fun  at that time, including drawbacks
  38. such    as   not   getting   back   my
  39. contactdisks  , fighting with the lame
  40. Hungarian  post system and so on!
  41.    And  then  on  a nice day I went to
  42. Vienna  to  visit  Reebok,  one  of my
  43. first  contacts!  At  that time he was
  44. the  leader  of Surprise!  Productions
  45. of  TRSI.   I  can  tell,  that  I was
  46. always  attracted  by the way he could
  47. join so famous groups and being "only"
  48. a  swapper!  As we knew each other for
  49. a  long  time,  about  2 years, I felt
  50. brave  enough  to  ask him  if I could
  51. join TRSI.  Actually I did it for fun,
  52. I  didn't  really  expect  a  positive
  53. answer!   But  he  said yes (yo pal!).
  54. So  I  was  incredible happy about it.
  55. My dream came true I was a member of a
  56. world  famous  cracker  and demogroup.
  57. Nothing   else   than  TRISTAR  &  RED
  58. SECTOR!   Well, Yeahh!  and since that
  59. day  my whole scene life turned out to
  60. be  paradise!   (I'd like to point out
  61. that  there  are  two  ways  to join a
  62. famous demogroup; if you are extremely
  63. talented  on a special field or if you
  64. are  in  close contact with one of the
  65. important members..  In my case it was
  66. little!!   bit  of both..  hmm one can
  67. say  I was "talented" in swapping huhh
  68. what?).   So  as  I  told  before, the
  69. scene turned out to be paradise to me!
  70. I  sent  out  some  advertisements and
  71. after  a  little  while  I got letters
  72. from  dozens  of  dudes  each day!   I
  73. even  couldn't answer all of them, but
  74. I   tried  it..   in  the  first  year
  75. anyway!  I was somebody, I could write
  76. my  group  in my letter (now it sounds
  77. very ridiculous to me) I don't want to
  78. lie, it  was  a  good  feeling, really
  79. good!   On  the other hand my contacts
  80. wrote  longer  letters.  I don't blame
  81. them, it's natural!  I became as known
  82. as  a  swapper  can be.  It was a very
  83. good  feeling  to  see my name back on
  84. the RAW's chart "who's the most famous
  85. in  a group", and I was very surprised
  86. to  become  the  third  best  group in
  87. Hungary  in  RAW  4  as I was the only
  88. member  of  S!P in Hungary.  I neither
  89. want  to  point  out that I am fucking
  90. proud  of  it  nor  want to say that I
  91. don't give a shit!  If someone says he
  92. doesn't  give  a shit about being on a
  93. kind  of  chart,  he's a liar!  I just
  94. took  it  as  fun  as  it was!  Anyway
  95. thanx  for voting guys!

  97.    So what about drawing a conclusion?
  98. Doesn't matter how good you are if you
  99. are  a member of an unknown group like
  100. I was one, you won't be successful, at
  101. least  very  hardly,  but if you are a
  102. member  of  a  famous  also if you are
  103. lame  and  unactive as I was last year
  104. you  will be wellknown, because people
  105. only  want  to  have  famous contacts.
  106. They  think  famous contacts are equal
  107. with  good contacts, but it's not like
  108. this!   In  my  case  I  became a lame
  109. unactive  swapper,  because  I  had so
  110. many possibilities!  I could swap with
  111. almost   everybody,   I   got  contact
  112. letters from the most famous crews and
  113. last  half  year  I even didn't answer
  114. them.   So  what?   Where  is  the fun
  115. anymore?   If  you don't have to fight
  116. for  something  you  will get bored of
  117. it.  So I became a bad, lazy, unactive
  118. and laaaaaame swapper.

  120.    After  all  maybe  it  sounds a bit
  121. like;  hey  I  am  a  fucking  lamer I
  122. fooled  out  you all, I became fucking
  123. famous  and  I  am the best, but now I
  124. don't  give  a  fuck!  Nooooo it's not
  125. like  this  don't misunderstand me!  I
  126. had  a great time in S!P, both in TRSI
  127. and   SCOOPEX,   I  gained  a  lot  of
  128. friends,  not  only so called friends,
  129. but  real  good ones too!  I had lotsa
  130. experiences,  e.g.  to be close to the
  131. fire.  Why do I leave SCOOPEX now?

  133.    1.   I  don't care much about being
  134. famous  anymore  I  want  to  take the
  135. scene  only for fun and nothing like a
  136. business.    That's   why   I  stopped
  137. swapping.   Since I did it (about half
  138. year I had much more sparetime to live
  139. my real life to work and have fun).  I
  140. can say that after five years swapping
  141. I  am a bit fed up copying the hottest
  142. stuff   to  100  of  my  contacts  and
  143. cheating   with   stamps,  writing  40
  144. letters  a  day!  Argggghhh!  I better
  145. keep 5 of my best ex-contacts and keep
  146. on writing to them!

  148.    2.   No  doubt SCOOPEX is or better
  149. was  a  great  group.  Mostly nice and
  150. legendary  productions  (some  of  the
  151. latest   ones  are  a  bit  exeptions,
  152. aren't they?).  So there is no need of
  153. an  unactive  member  like me!  I just
  154. feel it was too much pressure to be in
  155. such  a  group.   There  was also very
  156. limited  possibility to meet the other
  157. members,  well  every  half  year on a
  158. party!   Isn't  it  great?  Yes it is,
  159. but  not  enough for close friendship!
  160. I can add that I will stay in friendly
  161. touch  with  those guys from SCOOPEX I
  162. know  personally by meeting on parties
  163. and visiting each other!

  165.    3.   There  is  this  friendly  and
  166. promising group called Absolute! which
  167. I  attended to join, because as I said
  168. I   don't   care  about  being  famous
  169. anymore  (well a little bit ofcourse).
  170. (What's the relation -ed ;-) It's pure
  171. fun.   I know all the members, some of
  172. them for 2-3 years now!  Isn't it just
  173. great?
  174.    I  want  to serve my country, and I
  175. felt it was the best way to go!
